I suppose a third option would be an entirely new blog devoted to that topic, updated once or twice a week at the expense of this blog—an idea that would surely take up a bit more of my time.

Missionary Monday!
I agree, do whatever is easiest for you and that you want to do. Missionary Monday sounds like a fun feature, but if you think it is better presented as a long series in the future, you could do that. I think a new blog is probably a bit much, but its up to you.
Go with Missionary Monday. It's more approachable, imho.
